CMC Board Elections 2013 Further to the announcement at the AGM on 12th December and the notice sent out in December, two places for accredited mediation providers and two places for independent (individual) mediators are open for election in 2013.

MoJ announce extra £10 million for mediation

New measures are being put in place to support separating couples at the time of year when the number of people considering separation and divorce is at its peak. The Government expects to spend an additional £10 million this year on legal aid for mediation, taking the total spent to £25 million, and want to ensure that couples who decide to separate give consideration to using the process.

New Mediation Rules from Europe

Matthew Austin of Hayes Solicitors has reported on the impact of new regulations regarding mediation of civil and cross border disputes. Although the Regulations relate to cross-border disputes in civil and commercial matters only previous changes to the Circuit and High Court rules are relevant for domestic disputes.

Automatic referal to mediation in latest Government report

The Government has today published its response to the County Court consultation 'Solving disputes in the county courts'. Their conclusions include the automatic referral to a mediator of all claims below the current small claims limit of £5,000, at present some 80,000 cases per year.

Dispute Mediation Consultancy's senior Associate Andrew Goodman, Professor of Mediation Studies at Rushmore University was joined by mediator Grant Vincent and Carolyn Cameron DMC Operations & Support manager today to give a comprehensive overview of Mediation to students at the Southampton Law School. The lecture was greeted with great interest and helped towards the students understanding of dispute resolution.
