Steven advises private and institutional clients on a diverse range of strategic rural asset management matters; undertakes valuations of rural, agricultural and equestrian properties and is a Member of the Valuation Panel of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation. He is a fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers as well as a Recognised European Valuer. He has a special interest and expertise in the valuation of property portfolios, particularly those with complicated ownership structures or mixed property types. 

He has an engaging and pro-active approach, driven by achieving results. Steven is regularly involved in dispute resolution; he is a member of Rural Arbrix, an RICS registered Expert Witness and contributed a chapter on Expert Witness valuations in Agricultural Valuations: A Practical Guide (4th ed.) by RG Williams. 

Steven is an RICS accredited mediator with a special interest in the resolution of property related disputes. Steven has the additional accreditation to adopt an evaluative approach reinforced by a professional property background. In 2014 he co-founded online mediation service. 

He is a member of the national Council of the Agricultural Law Association, advises the CAAV’s Property Committee on dispute resolution matters and is a past external examiner at the Royal Agricultural University.

Steven is an RICS accredited mediator, specialising in the resolution of disputes involving rural property.

His professional experience includes rural estate management, Single Payment Scheme, property valuation, planning and development, landlord and tenant, compulsory purchase and compensation, farm agency, agricultural finance and tax planning. He is a certified valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC) and provides secured lending valuations in accordance with the RICS Valuation Standards for a number of clearing banks

As a media spokesman for the RICS on rural issues, Steven provides regular commentary on agricultural land values and related matters and contributes to the bi-annual national publication Farmland Market reporting values of agricultural land and provides associated commentary.

 He has been instructed in both single and joint Expert Witness capacities in disputes concerning valuations, boundary disputes and other matters. Reports are prepared in accordance with the guidelines set down in the Civil Procedure Rules part 35 and its associated Practice Direction, The Civil Justice Protocol for the Instruction of Experts to Give Evidence in Civil Claims and the RICS Practice Statement and Guidance Note Surveyors Acting as Expert Witnesses (3rd edition). He is accustomed to presenting evidence in Court and has arranged and delivered Expert Witness training seminars to the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC).
